The moto jacket… It is has been around forever and it’s one of those staple pieces you have got to have in your closet. It always looks cool and never goes out of style. Here’s a fun little fact for you: In 1928 Irving Schott designed the first motorcycle jacket and sold it for $5.50 at the Harley Davidson store in New York. He named it after his favorite cigar, The Perfecto. It became popular when in 1953 a famous actor, Marlon Brando, wore one in the movie The Wild One. It has sex appeal, a rebellious reputation to it, and will make you want to tap into your inner hell’s angel when the cooler weather comes around and join a motorcycle gang.
Because of it’s rebellious reputation back in the 1950’s, schools around the country banned their students from wearing the jackets, which made it even more desirable. I mean, who doesn’t love a masculine heart throb with a bit of a rebellious reputation, am I right ladies? Guys on wheels were total heart throbs .
The moto jacket became popular with the ladies as well with it’s classy, sassy, but bad assy look. You can style it many ways making it easy to pair it with anything and get that edgy look. I have had this jacket for years…seven to be exact, and they still sell it! It’s one of those timeless pieces that you can have in your closet and wear it forever.
I styled this jacket with a plaid shirt, destructed jeans (one of my favorite jeans), and my currently favorite thigh high boots. It’s a great weekend look! So if you need to channel your inner bad ass self, dressing the part can help, and make it fun;). Until next time, xo, Nichole
